37 schools were represented at the 15th PeacePlayers International City-Wide Tournament held on 1 November 2008 at Hoy Park, Durban.  After several intense rounds of competition Dina School was crowned the girls City-wide champions and Addington School was crowned the boys City-wide champions.  PeacePlayers International works at schools in 8 different communities:  Chatsworth, Durban Central, Durban North, Lamontville, Molweni, Umbumbulu, Umlazi and Wentworth.

PeacePlayers International employs 85 youth coaches and managers in Durban to teach basketball and act as mentors to the students participating in the PeacePlayers programme.  In conjunction with its programme to teach youth basketball PeacePlayers International teaches a life skills curriculum that aims to allow students to learn about issues such as self-confidence, HIV/AIDS and drugs and alcohol.
