Community Action for Safer Neighbourhoods
The eThekwini Municipality has launched
a ‘How to Manual’ for forming sustainable community safety groupings.
The manual, titled “Community Action for Safer Neighbourhoods”,
is a joint product of the Imagine Durban project and the Safer Cities
Department of the Municipality. The manual was written by
Monique Marks, Richard Dobson and Debby Bonnin The manual is geared towards helping local communities establish (or reinforce) effective, safety-oriented community associations. The manual is aimed at all community members who are interested in establishing voluntary associations to create safer and more cohesive neighbourhoods. It is also aimed at police and other government agencies who form part of what is now called safety networks.
