South Durban Basin Youth Dominate Art Competition Print

The South Durban Basin Area Based Management team has just completed an art and essay competition dubbed, Imagine South Durban Basin .

The project was run parallel to the City’s Imagine Durban initiative, which is a process to generate discussion and ideas for tomorrow, and to generate strategies, plans and projects to start taking us there today.

Local schools such as Fairvale, Umbilo, Ganges and Grosvenor Boys Secondary participated and certificates were awarded to pupils who won the competitions.

Eurakha Singh, SDB Social Development Manager said, “Our intention is to get learners to think about what they would like their area to be and look like in future.”

Children were encouraged to be as creative as possible by expressing themselves either in an essay or drawing. The winners of the art competition were Curtis Peppher from Fairvale Secondary who came in first, Anthony Faro from Fairvale Secondary walked way with second place and Special Award was presented to Barend Van Der Walt from Grosvernor Boys.
