Clowns Without Borders South Africa is an artist-led humanitarian organisation that dedicated to using laughter and play to improve the psychosocial condition of children and their guardians in areas of crisis around the world. We are clowns, acrobats, circus artists, actors, storytellers, musicians, and facilitators who work together to bring celebration and emotional relief to places where it is needed most. Since 2004, we have provided interventions for over 150,000 children and guardians with more than 400 performances and workshops in areas affected by HIV/AIDS, violence, poverty, and natural disasters including throughout South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Sudan, and the Middle East.
Thanks to a grant from the Canadian
International Development Agency, Clowns Without Borders South Africa
is implementing Siyazisiza (Helping Ourselves) to develop our capacity
to meet the growing need for arts based interventions in areas of crisis
throughout the region. This involves expanding our base in Durban to
include artistic communities in Johannesburg and Cape Town. As a result, we are currently looking for artists with experience with children and/or adults to join us as we continue to expand. The workshop/audition will be facilitated by Clowns Without Borders South Africa founder and director, Jamie McLaren Lachman. No child without a smile!
