Step out of your homes to meet your community at a play date at Bulwer Park.

Fun in the Park is happening at Bulwer Park playground on Helen Joseph Road (Former Davenport Rd) in Glenwood between 3pm and 5pm on Saturday 27 February 2010.

Park Fun is organised by the Child Friendly City Campaign to provide an opportunity for parents and children to enjoy the green spaces of our neighbourhoods, to get to know each other and to give our children the opportunity to play in a safe place. The Child Friendly City Campaign was formed last year by a group of parents in Glenwood with the aim of encouraging parents and children in communities across the city to reclaim public spaces for their intended use: to play, relax and unwind.

Samantha Willan, one of the campaigners, said: “The campaign is about using public spaces where our children can have positive experiences, enjoy the outdoors and where they will not be isolated in a middle-class environment.”

A key goal of the campaign is to reverse the decline of public facilities, such as parks, museums and green spaces, that has fuelled a growing separation between children along class and race lines as middle class families retreat behind high walls.

So bring your children along for an afternoon of fun on the swings and slides or come along for a ball game.

*Please note children to be accompanied by an adult*.
